May 24, 2025 — Kenny Bevans: Breaking Ground for Summer Food Plots
Hey guys — Kenny Bevans here checking in over Memorial Day Weekend with an update from the field. It’s been a long day, but we made some great progress prepping for this year’s summer food plot.
🔧 Work Completed:
I spent about six to seven hours rotary tilling the plot today. Last weekend, I was able to mow things down, but the wet spring here in Indiana had me behind schedule. Today was all about putting in the hours and getting the soil turned over and ready.
🌱 What’s Next:
Tomorrow, I’ll be heading back down with my drill to plant soybeans. This will serve as my main summer plot. For the areas that don’t come in strong, I’ll revisit later in the season and rework them into fall food plots.
It’s always a bit of a gamble with the weather, and this spring has definitely been wetter than usual. But if we catch some rain soon, these beans should take off.
I’m wrapping things up for the evening and heading out to load up the tractor. Fingers crossed we get it all drilled in tomorrow. Stay tuned for more updates throughout the season, and good luck out there with your own plots!
