July 18, 2025 – Hunter Kloke: River Bottom Setup & Fall Plot Prep
Boy, am I thankful for the two-wheel drive e-bike today. This Missouri lease sits down in a soft, soggy river bottom, and that bike hauled me and my gear in like a champ.
I brought in a bunch of mineral and attractant, got it poured out, and packed in 24D and glyphosate to knock back a heavy strip of briars and brush along the ditch row. The plan is to return in 2-3 weeks with the drill and lay in a solid fall food plot—haven’t settled on the exact mix yet, but it’ll be something to pull them in.
This spot is a perfect pinch point travel corridor. Timber on both sides, river behind me, and bucks already summering here. But when the rut hits, this funnel is going to be 🔥.
I also went ahead and launched a rope scrape along the river and hit it with Black Widow Branch Butter. Hung a Stealth Cam to monitor the activity and slipped back out.
Now it’s on to Kentucky and Indiana for more farm work. We’ll check back soon to see what’s moving.
